Glazing or vitreousness of the pivot
A symptom of vitrescence is reported in the literature. It is materialized by the browning and liquefaction of the pith at the level of the pivot. This symptom is reminiscent of the damage caused by Pectobacterium carotovorum subsp. carotovorum .
This physiological affection manifests itself especially in summer on lettuce near the harvest and in plots where nitrogen fertilization is too excessive.
