Description of the fungus
- The conidiophores of Trichothecium roseum are very poorly differentiated, measuring more than a hundred microns in length. They are only noticeable when the conidia are produced (Figures 1 to 5).
- The conidia are hyaline (but pink in mass) and bicellular, showing a single septum. Their wall is rather smooth and thick. They are cylindrical or pear-shaped, measure 13-27 x 8-11 µm, and have a narrowed base with an oblique scar (Figures 5 and 6).
- Appearance of colonies on mat-agar medium : they have moderate growth. Powdery white in appearance, they end up taking on a pinkish color, or even orange (figure 7).
