Various viruses

Viruses, in addition to causing symptoms on the leaflets and stems, are the cause of various anomalies and deteriorations on fruits, which we have divided into several sections.

By way of example, some characteristics of the eggplant ( mottled dwarf virus Eggplant mottled dwarf virus , EMDV) which disrupts fruit growth and responsible for more or less pronounced deformations are presented below (figure 1). . It is not the only one responsible for such symptoms, so viruses should not be overlooked when the cause of this type of alteration is sought. In this regard, Figure 2 is a good illustration of the lesions, sometimes canker and suberized, that can be observed on fruits affected by certain viruses such as TSWV, for example.

In the majority of cases of virus disease, other symptoms are visible on the other aerial organs of the tomato and in particular on the leaves.
