Sclerotinia
- classification : Fungi, Ascomycota, Leotiomycetes, Leotiomycetidae, Helotiales, Sclerotiniaceae
- dénomination anglaise : Sclerotinia stem and fruits rot , watery soft rot
This ascomycete rather polyphagous is widely distributed throughout the world. It seems capable of attacking many Cucurbits, including zucchini and squash , and this as well on seedlings, on adult plants, and after harvest on stored fruits. The economic losses recorded in some countries are sometimes very significant.
In France , sclerotiniosis is a disease that can be observed frequently on zucchini, both in shelters and in the open fields, and more occasionally on squash.
