Pectobacterium carotovorum subsp. carotovorum

(Bacterial rot)

Several species Pectobacterium pathogenic have been described on tomato ( bacterial stem rot ), in particular P. carotovorum subsp. carotovorum . This bacterium is at the origin of an internal deterioration of the stem, primarily affecting the marrow at first. This takes on a glassy appearance, turns brown, gradually decomposes, and ends up becoming more or less hollow (figure 1). In certain particularly favorable situations, the bark of the stem may also be affected, revealing locally a brown to black tint (figure 2). For more information, see Other Rod Alterations and Anomalies .

For additional information on this bacterium, you can consult the Pectobacterium carotovorum subsp. carotovorum .
