Input management
- Definition and role in the reduction of phytosanitary products : good management of inputs (fertilization, water supply and growth stimulators, excluding phytosanitary products here) respecting the needs of crops is necessary to limit the stresses that weaken plants
against the attack of bio-aggressors, to prevent these inputs from having a stimulating effect on the development of bio-aggressors and also to avoid any waste linked to excess inputs. - Against which pests? All bioaggressors: weeds, aerial pests, soil pests, diseases.
- On which crops? On all tropical crops.
- When ? Before the implantation of the culture and during its development.
- In what conditions ? An annual periodic report should be carried out before establishing the manure plan. Take into account:
- the nature of the soil for the choice of green manures and irrigation methods;
- the development of the crop and its state of stress (water stress in particular);
- the "fertility" of the soil for an optimal supply of fertilizing materials, thanks to soil analyses, both to amend the soil, in particular in terms of organic matter and calcium, and to cover the estimated needs of the crops.
It is important to split the inputs to avoid nitrogen leaching.
- Regulations : respect the regulations in force on the spreading of fertilizing materials. All growth stimulators must be subject to approval, which can be checked on the www.ephy website. agriculture.gouv.fr via the entry “Matières fertilisantes”. Before use, carefully read the instructions for use of the products.
- Working time: increase in working time to be expected for the possible manufacture of the input (case of compost), spreading, establishment and destruction of green manures, installation and maintenance of the irrigation system.
- Compatibility of alternative techniques with each other : compatible with all alternative techniques to the use of phytosanitary products as well as prophylactic measures.
