P. sclerotioides is now present in many countries in the world, it has mainly been reported on cucumber, but it is capable of attacking other Cucurbitaceae: zucchini, squash, watermelon ... and in particular melon. It is present, for example, in Canada, Malaysia, Japan, in several northern European countries such as Denmark, Germany, England, Holland, Bulgaria, and more recently Italy.
It has been rife in France for many years, especially feared on cucumber. It also affects the melon but in an often insidious way, going unnoticed. Its damage can be significant especially under shelter, but also increasingly in the open field.
