The leafhopper Scaphoideus titanus (formerly S. littoralis ) is a stinging, sucking hemiptera insect of the Cicadellidae family, a subfamily of Deltocephalinae. It does not cause any direct damage to the foliage of the vine, on the other hand it transmits the phytoplasma responsible for Flavescence dorée .
