Setophoma terrestris primarily attacks the root system of melons. It causes the destruction of many rootlets, and lesions on the roots which end up taking a brown to pinkish tint on more or less long sections.

Affected plants have stunted growth, wilting can be observed at the hottest times of the day.

Remember that this fungus often acts in concert with other soil-borne pests.
