Main Symptoms
Globodera spp. produces cysts on the roots that are first white and then gradually darken (figure 1). The cysts are observed on the entire root system. In addition the root system shows numerous brown lesions and reduced growth (figure 2). The development of affected plants is restricted and they wilt during the hottest periods of the day.
Some of the information on the worldwide distribution of the disease is obtained from surveys conducted by CORESTA (Cooperation Centre for Scientific Research Relative to Tobacco). The reliability of the information is not confirmed in all countries.
