Tobacco ring spot virus
(TRSV)
- classification : Comoviridae, Nepovirus
Tobacco ring spot virus (TRSV) (figure 1) is probably present in all countries of the world. It affects a wide range of cultivated and non-cultivated hosts. It has been reported in many tobacco grown countries, but it usually causes low damage. In United States, TRSV is widespread and its incidence in this country is perhaps more severe than in the other countries.
It is rarely observed in tobacco in France. Few diseased plants, isolated or grouped, have been occasionally observed. Its incidence in France has been overestimated in the past due to misdiagnosis.
