Aureobasidium pullulans does not have conidiophores differentiated . Indeed, its conidia globular to ellipsoidal arise directly on undifferentiated hyphal cells located at the ends or intercalates, this from denticles. These are actually blastoconidia which are produced simultaneously, in clumps, by budding cells (Figure 1). This type of development, which resembles that of yeasts, is quite characteristic of the genus Aureobasidium .
Appearance of colonies on malt-agar medium : They grow rapidly. Viscous, moist in appearance, they take on a pink to light brown color (figure 2) to then become black when the chlamydospores are formed.
