The damage of Byctiscus betulae is visible at phenological stage F, and it is materialized by bites irregular, rectilinear and elongated . Note that the female incises the petiole then rolls up the blade which gives it the shape of a cigar (figures 1 to 5).
More rarely, this insect (figure 6) can attack herbaceous twigs, causing perforations.
