Tomato black ring virus (TBRV)

The Tomato black ring virus (TBRV) belongs to the family of Comoviridae and gender Nepovirus (Figure 1). It is transmitted by several nematodes, such as Longidorus elongatus . Some hosts can transmit it by seeds.


- Symptoms

Ring spot of lettuce, identified at the time as a strain of TBRV.


- Main characteristics

TBRV is very widespread in the world; it is inoculable to a wide range of hosts. It is reported on leeks, beets, beans, tomatoes, potatoes ... and many weeds. To our knowledge, it has only been reported once on lettuce in France at the end of the 1970s.
