Sonchus yellow net virus (SYNV)

The Sonchus yellow net virus (SYNV) belongs to the family Rhabdoviridae and the genus Nucleorhabdovirus (Figure 1). It is transmitted by the aphid Aphis coreopsidis , in the persistent mode.

- Symptoms

Thinning of veins and yellowing of leaves. Large yellow spots, interveinal, on lower leaves. Lettuce infected early may remain dwarf.


- Main characteristics

SYNV is a virus similar to SYVV. Its actions on salad appear to be limited to Florida where it affects romaines and batavias. This virus is hosted by several weeds: Bidens pilosa , Senecio glabellus , Sonchus spp., Etc.
