Ecology, epidemiology
- Conservation, sources of viruses
At present, no data on the number of cultivated or spontaneous species harboring endive necrotic mosaic virus (Endive necrotic mosaic virus , ENMV) is available. In fact, the importance of the risks of epidemics will depend on the richness of the range of potential hosts of this virus. Chicory crops must already be considered as potential virus reservoirs, especially in autumn and winter.
- Transmission, dissemination
Like all potyviruses, ENMV is transmitted by aphids in the non-persistent mode and potentially by a large number of species.
A few tests carried out on batavia iceberg lettuce and butter lettuce have not concluded that there is seed transmission in lettuce.
