 Golden speckle on fruits
( gold flech )

The golden speck is a disease originally small dark green spots, irregular, randomly arranged on the surface of green fruit. These spots subsequently take on a yellow tint as the fruits ripen. The cause (s) of golden speckle is somewhat controversial. Some authors attribute a genetic origin to it, the " gene Gdf " would be responsible for it. Others report that this problem is partly solved by the application of insecticides and could be due to the effects of insects, especially thrips. Whatever the cause, varietal differences exist.
