Damage can occur on tomato as a result of thunderstorms. In this case, the producers observe in their plots more or less large circular zones of wilted plants which gradually dry out. Some of them, located more in the center of the outbreaks, can be completely destroyed. These foci correspond in fact to the point of impact of the lightning ( lightning ) in the culture. The stems of these plants are also affected and occasionally show surface brown changes. The pith may remain white or turn slightly brown when it remains inside the stem. Frequently, it retracts more or less and takes on the appearance of several stacked discs (Figure 1) .
 

Identifying this non-parasitic condition shouldn't be a problem for you for at least two reasons:

- the cause and effect reaction being immediate, the symptoms appear just after a stormy episode in the region;

- the affected plants always divide into foci.
 

Unfortunately, lightning causes often irremediable damage to plants, and no measure can improve their condition.
