Root rot nematodes

,
,

- Classification: Animalia, Nematoda, Adenophorea, Tylenchida, Pratylenchidae
- English name: Lesion nematodes

The nematodes responsible for root rots are, like Globodera spp., Less damaging on tomato than Meloidogyne . Although globally distributed, they affect more than 500 plant species, they are only reported on this nightshade in a few producing countries, associated with damage varying from one country to another.

In France, rare attacks of P. penetrans have been detected. The incidence of Pratylenchus spp. on this plant is not well known, it is very probably negligible.

Several species of Pratylenchus are likely to affect tomatoes; in particular, mention may be made of Pratylenchus penetrans (Cobb) Filipjev & Schuurmans Stekhoven, Pratylenchus crenatus Loof., Pratylenchus brachyurus (Godfrey) Filipjev & Shuurmans Steckhoven, Pratylenchus pratensis Filipjev .
