Predatory spiders, opilions and mites

Mites (photo 1), opilions (photo 2) and spiders (photo 3) are part of the arachnids, arthropods different from insects, distinguished from them by their four pairs of legs and the two parts of the body formed by the cephalothorax (head and thorax fused together) and abdomen.

These arthropods, some of which are entomophagous, participate in the regulation of populations of grapevine pests. However, the link between mites and insect pests in the vineyard and predatory arachnids is still poorly understood, although the latter are very present on the ground or in vegetation.
