Main symptoms
Appearance of circular, reddish-brown lesions on the surface of berries near harvest. Subsequently, they spread and gain in depth, becoming generalized over time (Figure 1).
The berries eventually soften, lose their turgor and shrivel more or less; this facies reminiscent of those observed in the presence of berries affected by black rot , Phomopsis viticola , etc. (figure 2).
On the surface of the altered tissues numerous mucous masses and salmon color form materializing the asexual reproduction of Colletotrichum (figures 3 and 4).
