Impatiens necrotic spot virus (INSV)

The virus of necrotic spots of impatiens ( Impatiens necrotic spot virus , INSV) belongs to the family of Bromoviridae and gender Tospoviruses (Figure 1). It is transmitted by Frankliniella occidentalis and Frankliniella fusca .

- Symptoms

Nerve necrosis, concentric rings are visible on the limbus. The leaves can be deformed and the growth of lettuce blocked.

- Main characteristics

INSV is reported in Western and Eastern Europe and the United States. It infects impatiens on which most of the leaves do not show symptoms. The same situation is encountered on several other ornamental crops. It was reported in 1997 on lettuce in Italy (Emilia Romagna).

In France, its symptoms are now observed on lettuce and chicory in the Alpes Maritimes.
