Meloidogyne Goldi 1877
Root-knot nematodes
,
- English name: Root-knot nematodes
Root-knot nematodes are widespread worldwide and affect over 3000 plants. Several species of Meloidogyne are found in salads and have been reported in many countries. Some species have a rather semi-tropical distribution Meloidogyne arenaria (Neal 1889) and M. javanica (Treub 1885); M. incognita (Kofoid & White 1919) shows an intermediate distribution while M. hapla Chitwood 1949 is more northern.
Given the polyphagia of these nematodes on vegetable crops, they are found in France in the soils of many farms with a past market gardening. Their damage can be severe from time to time on farms where the management of crop rotations and the sanitary quality of the soil is not relevant.
Four races were identified in Meloidogyne incognita , two in Meloidogyne arenaria , none in Meloidogyne hapla and Meloidogyne javanica .
